THE OPPORTUNITY TO CHANGE THE WORLD IS YOURS

What will change the world, the social and political world, the way we produce and consume? What could rise from the ashes of a decadent system collapsing as I write. You and your revolutionary orientation, your revolutionary framework can now be brought to the millions of confused Americans and people who now wonder what to believe. There is no time to wait. Yes, you must renew your own awareness of your revolutionary orientation, true.... but the time is now.

Despite all the talk about Anarchism it seems that people have been less than vigorous in individually selling their own ideological wares. I guess people hate being missionaries but it's missionary time for the oppressed. Reactionary ideas still tend to dominate people's minds and I mean bourgeois ideas in particular. Suddenly millions of otherwise confused and misguided citizens can learn the fundamental insights of feminism, socialism and many other progressive orientations. It will be liberating for so many to "get it" for the first time. "Jody Sixpack" is ready to become a conscious member of the working class and someone who can now see through the bourgeois lies she once believed. It doesn't mean we have to be sectarian just because we help some poor bewildered Republican catch up with political reality. We will learn as we teach and teach as we learn. We can learn from each other as we spread the unifying goal, to replace a reactionary oppressive society with a progressive and liberating society.

Class struggle is the key link across these diverse liberation ideologies. This is now more obvious in the imperialist heartlands, Europe, the United States, and Japan. Of course the need to side with the many billions of impoverished world-wide has always been the sin qua non of a progressive ideology. Without a "preference for the poor", siding with the working class or otherwise being with the "have nots" an ideology cannot be progressive, left or liberating.

Prevailing Insantiy

When you try to talk to Americans about politics or economics you often get a religious response that has nothing to do with the political subject matter being discussed. The fact is that our nation is full of religious schools and churches that brainwash adults and children into believing that you don't have to read the newspaper, just the Bible.

An acquaintance of mine recently brought up the Obama candidacy to a co-worker. She asked the co-worker what she thought about the Obama candidacy. "It would be like in the Book of Revleation" was the response. It is a typical American response to just about any political question, just stick your nose in a Bible and you won't need to know much else, except to believe whatever the clergy tell you! After another question the problem was only clarified a bit, Obama, according to this apparently competent human being, is the Anti-Christ!

I wish I was making this up. Religion has become something of a poison that makes it impossible for most Americans to have even basic political thoughts. Today at least a quarter of the population seems to have a medieval belief in spirits, ghosts, demons and angels running all over the place. Most of us won't say anything to challenge these people because it is hard to figure out how to challenge a world view that we hardly understand and to which the other person clings to for dear life. These crazy beliefs are somehow at the core of their sense of self-worth. They freak if you disagree!

A number of other subjects were brought up: gay marriage, the price of crude oil and the social security system. Every answer was a revealed to be embedded in the Book of Revelation.

I am so sorry for my country, that we cannot think about reality in a more realistic and reality based way.

FRANCES USES OPPORTUNITY TO PROMOTE MINUTEMAN VIGILANTES

Ten days before the minuteman regional workshop at the Uptown Theater this February 1st, 2008, Frances Semler has decided to quit her job at the Parks Board of KCMO in order to promote the anti-immigration cause. So while the far-right commentators that dominate corporate radio seek to make her into a martyr she is in fact on the offensive, ready to promote the MCDC without restraint.

It is curious that she had to quit at this time, a very opportune time for her to promote her favorite cause, hating immigrants and driving them from the United States. Mayor Funkhouser and all the free speech liberal who supported her presence on the Parks Board have been had. Francis has used their tolerance and commitment to free speech in such a way that the city has really been harmed financially. Now she blames her liberal protector, Funkhouser for betraying her! Who betrayed the city?

It lends credence to the speculation that Minuteman leader Ed Hayes and Francis Semler have planned this move for some time. Her appointment to the Park Board may have been an intentional effort by Ed Hayes and local MCDC leaders to insert a person into city government who could then use the position to promote anti-immigration activities.

I look forward to reading her "departing" statement which I have already heard part of on right-wing hate radio. No doubt it will provide new insights into the mind of the hater who imagines she is not a hater.

Gun nuts! I've noticed that the do-it-yourself border patrol groups like to recruit at gun shows and other weapons related events. A number of these people think of themselves as hunters.

Apparently, most border patrol types carry concealed weapons!

You cannot help but get the feeling, looking at this application, that minutemen are armed. The question is this,

“ Is MCDC armed and extremely dangerous to the rule of law and to those who may not agree with them?” ¹

Then you run across quotations like the one by the head of MCDC, Chris Simcox, “Militia rules mandate that each member carry a pistol, for which a background check is required, and he or she must also wear a baseball cap emblazoned with an American flag,”reported Max Blumenthal. The border patrol movement seems to be more about pistols than patriotism.

It is almost as if these so-called patriots are trying to set up and legitimize private armies run by the likes of Chris Simcox. Isn't that the fascist siren song?, “Let us provide security at the point of a gun, give obedience to the leader, intimidate others into silence or worse?”

What sort of arsenal will be brought into the Uptown Theater on February 1^st, 2008?

I heard that the landlord will put all his undocumented workers out of sight for that date, but what is he going to do about all that heat that the Minutemen bring? Hell, for all I know he is packing a rod himself!

It raises all sorts of practical issues. Will lots of folks be packing at the February 1^st event?

Will long arms and semi-automatic weapons be allowed? How about uzis? They are such cute little mechanisms of mayhem! Just don't tell the insurance company. There could be liability issues.

Then, on the other hand, will they ban weapons and put people through some sort of body search? That could dampen the festivities! Yet isn't it the responsible thing to do with so many armed vigilantes showing up?

Will they be selling guns in the lobby? Ammo?

1 Is Frances Semler not merely a granny but an armed granny? Is that where she got that hawk-like gaze, on the firing range? Makes the Park Board Meetings less confrontational, I bet.

SUPPORT THE TASED STUDENT, CONDEMN KERRY/ACADEMIC FASCISM

I am infuriated at what this nation has become. Today or yesterday a student was beaten, tased and arrested for daring to speak without the permission of the official speaker, John Kerry. Having watched the video I do not know why the student was attacked. There is no obvious order to do so. It seems that the student mentioned several things that are generally not
to be discussed in the company of bona fide Republicans and Democrats. He mentioned the
stolen election of 2004 and Greg Palast's book. He insisted that George Bush be impeached and
he asked about Kerry's experience in "Skull and Bones", a Yale secret society Bush and Kerry were in at Yale.

Maybe this, in your face presentation, of generally avoided topics is that was punishable by electrocution, beating and arrest. It sure looked like it to me.

I hear that three hundred students at that university have already protested, there should be a demonstration on every campus, condemning harsh police practices in the community and at public events like this. We need to campaign at the constant increase in police powers at every
level of government. Law enforcement is becoming a bloated and cumbersome bureaucracy whose growth adds less and less per dollar invested. Besides a continuously growing police state
will intervene more and more in the private lives of citizens and be available to spy upon them and otherwise control citizens, in a fascistic way. We are becoming a nation of police personnel
and servants of the police state.

This young man was tortured for having a brain and trying, trying, to exercise a supposed
right, the right to free speech. For this he was tortured and arrested. But 300 students cannot
be so easily silenced!

It is time to see this sort of violence for what it is, the relentless efforts by our
ruling elites to make this a fascist society where a handful of billionaires profit from their
overseas investments and domestic monopolies while the rest of us live in a nation in decline,
without democratic parties, without a mechanism for the people to have their will implemented.

Our cruel rulers hope to put the fear of being tased, beaten or arrested into the hearts
of any average american who dares exercise her free speech. Yet every act of violence by the
rulers simply sets them apart from the rest of America. They are our rulers and they are oppressing us and others throughout the world more and more each day.

I don't think this young student was intimidated. You could see that he stood strong and persisted in the struggle despite the great pain inflicted upon him. Now three hundred courageous students have already added their voices to his. This jack booted repression should make the blood of every freedom loving American and human being boil. How dare we not act? How dare we not dare? How can we do nothing to contend with the poison preaching reactionaries that dominate politics, media and culture?

All of us should follow this student's brave example. Like him we may be beaten, tased or worse. We must denounce these bought and sold politicians as well as their principle sponsors. At the end of a perhaps long, perhaps short struggle our rights will be restored and, yes, advanced.

Speak out against reactionaries everywhere and by any media necessary. Let's get the police
out of our politics and engage in open debate rather than fearful questioning in the presence of
armed enforcers of servility before neither Republican nor Democrat candidates.
